about urban bounty

urban bounty home and garden services started as urban bounty farms, a community-supported agriculture (csa) business, growing food in backyards in east vancouver, burnaby and coquitlam. for one full year, i provided members with seasonal vegetables in addition to preserved foods through the winter. having gotten a taste of commercial agriculture, i am getting ready to transition to full-time farming on a bigger piece of land on the edge of the city.

as i'm getting prepared to transition to peri-urban farming, i handed over my gardens to new farmers and am no longer offering csa subscriptions. however, i am offering my diverse gardening and organizing services to folks who want help in their own homes and yards.

although i'm not certified organic, i don't use synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. even organic pesticides are toxic substances and although they're less harmful to the environment, they should be used minimally. i aim to practice plant-positive activities rather than pest-negative ones. i develop fertile soil to support an abundant microorganism population and plant a diversity of crops to satisfy pollinators, beneficial insects and humans. compost, mulch, green manure, compost tea, crop-rotation, intercropping, hoophouses, hedgerows and swales are some of the methods i utilize to maximize abundance.
